Where to eat in Tijuana

Tijuana, Mexico is a city on the border of Mexico and USA. It has a variety of good restaurants run by chefs who gained their culinary titles in USA (mostly San Diego, which is pretty close). Mexican cuisine is delicious!

1. Cien Años - Alta Cocina Mexicana : What to order --- A bottle of Petite Syraz Cetto (from Valle del Guadalupe); Pescado basa relleno de queso oaxaca con salsa de frijoles y nopalitos; Camarones Azteca: camarones gigantescos, nopales cocidos y salsa de chile chipotle, served with rice and vegetables; Cafe americano; Pay de queso con salsa de frambuesas (super creamy). This restaurant is near the US Embassy, so expect to have full tables nearby. Also, I noticed that it was very dark inside. You can have warm tortillas or bread rolls with herbs de Provence.

2. Mision 19 (Via Gourmet) : What to order --- Mini burger de angus, salsa romesco, ginger; Lovely variety of mini-breads; Fish of the day: asado a la plancha, chips de papa fingerling, mermelada salada de tomate y tomatillo, alcaparra, crujiente de aceituna Mediterranea, chilacas, aceite virgen de alberquina; Pechuga de pato al sarten: kumquat rendid, salvia, camote blanco, acelgas, piernil confitado, caramelo de citricos; The best dessert: "texturas chocolate", different chocolate textures served in a cappuccino cup! This restaurant is located in a ejecutive tower. It is very modern, it has a great selection of wines, and super contemporary menu!!!

Local 10 (Zona Rio) : What to order --- Tajada de pescado escolar, acompañado con salsa mediterranea, tomatillos, aceitunas, y alcaparras; Filete de cerdo asado con especies, camarones ecuatorianos, espuma de jus de cerdo y jengibre; mousse de chocolate semi-amargo con chile de arbol, relleno de caramelo; French Press Cafe Americano! This restaurant is very similar to "Mission 19".

Mision 19 (Revisited) : What to order --- Pollito/Leche organico sin piel con salsa de mushrooms, baby carrots, and fingerling potatoes; Lonja de cerdo "Niman Ranch" y costilla bronceada (chicharo en vaina/pure de platano macho/shallots de Guadalupe/yuka/regaliz/chicharon; Helados de la casa (pistachio, cerezas negras y jengibre, nata/dulce de limon meyer, chocolate mexicano/tocino encaramelado, vanilla Mexicana/Pera macerada en vino Moscato local. The ice-creams were delicious, served in mini-cones, over granulated sugar!

Villa Casa Saverios : What to order --- Pescado Sardinia del Pacifico con mermelada de tomates organicos/ Salicornia (petite marine asparagus)/ Aceitunas negras curadas/ laminas de ajo crujiente/ anis rostizado; Salmon confitado en matequilla de piloncillo con gengibre, higo mision, limon, albahaca, repollo salteado; Tarta rustica de guayaba con helado de platano, crema inglesa, y caramelo de guayaba.
